Initially influenced by rock and heavy metal, they were drawn to artists like Metallica, Megadeth, and Led Zeppelin. As teenagers, they joined a metal band called Tierra Ácida, performing in the local underground scene. However, the limited opportunities in Mexico’s rock industry led them to explore new musical avenues.

Journey to Ireland and Transformation

In the late 1990s, Rodrigo and Gabriela decided to leave Mexico and travel to Europe, eventually settling in Dublin, Ireland. With little money and no concrete plans, they began busking on the streets, refining their distinctive acoustic guitar style. They fused flamenco techniques with their metal influences, creating a powerful and percussive guitar-driven sound.

Their performances quickly gained attention, leading to gigs in local pubs and collaborations with Irish musicians, including Damien Rice.
