Kaiser Chiefs are an English Indie rock band from Leeds.
The band originally formed in 1996 as Runston Parva. The name was a playful misspelling of a small East Yorkshire hamlet called Ruston Parva. Unfortunately, Runston Parva failed to secure a record deal.
After their initial setback, the group re-formed as Parva in 2000. During this phase, they released one studio album titled “22” in 2003.
In the same year, they renamed themselves Kaiser Chiefs and established their current name.

The band draws inspiration from new wave and punk rock music of the late 1970s and 1980s. They have released several studio albums, including “Employment“, which achieved critical and commercial success with more than three million copies sold. Their hit singles include “I Predict a Riot” and the number one hit “Ruby”. Kaiser Chiefs have won Brit Awards and have been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize.
In 2005, Kaiser Chiefs joined Black Eyed Peas, Will Smith, Destiny’s Child, and Kanye West on the Philadelphia leg of the Live 8 concert.
The Kaiser Chiefs remain a prominent force in British Indie rock. They’ve carved a niche with their high-energy live shows, witty lyrics, and ability to craft timeless anthems.
In 2015, they supported the Foo Fighters during the South Africa, South America, and Ireland legs of their Sonic Highways World Tour.
In October 2022, Kaiser Chiefs announced the single “How 2 Dance”, the first for V2 Records, which was released on 4 November. The song is part of their eighth album, Kaiser Chiefs’ Easy Eighth Album, produced by Nile Rodgers and Amir Amor. The second single, “Jealousy”, was released on 11 April 2023. The third single, “Feeling Alright”, was released on 25 October 2023.
Their discography includes eight studio albums, one extended play, thirty-three singles, and one video album.
