Ween is an American rock band from New Hope, Pennsylvania, formed in 1984 by Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, better known by their respective stage names, Gene and Dean Ween.
Ween is known for its far-reaching musical approach, which draws influence from many different genres of music. Generally categorized as an alternative rock and/or experimental rock band, Ween is known for its irreverent, highly eclectic catalog of songs inspired by funk, soul, country, gospel, prog, psychedelia, R&B, heavy metal, punk rock, and countless more.

In 2002, Ween performed at the Glastonbury Festival along with Stereophonics, Alabama, Bush, Carl Cox, Coldplay, Dropkick Murphys, Garbage, Nelly Furtado, Queens of the Stone Age, No Doubt, Robert Plant, Fatboy Slim and Manu Chao.
On August 9 and 10, 2022, Ween played the South Park 25th Anniversary Concert alongside Primus and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. It was broadcast on Comedy Central on August 13 and on Paramount+ on August 14.
Both Freeman and Melchiondo have stated several times that one of the band’s biggest influences was Prince. Other stated influences include The Beatles, Parliament-Funkadelic, the Butthole Surfers, Pink Floyd, the Dead Kennedys, Laurie Anderson, The Allman Brothers Band, James Brown, Devo, and Earth, Wind and Fire.
In concert, Ween has frequently covered songs by David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Motörhead, Van Halen, The Doors, Frank Sinatra, and Billy Joel.
