Soulive is an American funk/jazz trio that originated in Woodstock, New York, and is known for its solos and catchy, upbeat songs. In 1999, the Evans brothers formed a traditional jazz organ trio and recorded their first album, Turn It Out. The album sold 65,000 copies, gaining Soulive recognition in the jazz/funk scene.
Soulive then embarked on five national tours. The band opened for The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, The Roots, Common, John Mayer, and others. They also continued to play at various festivals, including the Monterey Jazz Festival and Bonnaroo. Overseas, Soulive played shows in Japan and all over Europe.

In 2000, Soulive signed a record deal with Blue Note Records and released albums like Doin’ Something and Next. In 2006, the band recorded No Place Like Soul with producer Stewart Lerman and featured Boston-based reggae/soul artist Toussaint as lead vocalist.
In 2008, Soulive performed at the Newport Jazz Festival. In 2009, they released Up Here, a new album with instrumentals, featuring Ryan Zoidis on tenor sax, Sam Kininger on alto sax, Rashawn Ross on trumpet, and Nigel Hall as guest vocalists. In 2010, the band released an album of Beatles covers called Rubber Soulive.
In 2019, Krasno moved to the West Coast to build a home studio and focus on city-specific runs and residencies. In 2020, he launched the Plus One podcast.
Soulive has greatly expanded their sound since their inception in the 90s. They have played with highly respected musicians, such as John Scofield, Warren Haynes, Dave Matthews, Chaka Khan, Sam Kininger, Robert Randolph, and Ivan Neville.
Soulive continues to bring their funky fresh jazz sound to audiences around the country. The group has performed at renowned events, such as the Newport Jazz Festival and the MLS All-Star Game, in addition to their annual two-week ‘Bowlive’ residency at the Brooklyn Bowl.
