Who Is Grupo Frontera?

Grupo Frontera is an American band from Edinburg, Texas.

The group began recording locally in 2019, releasing covers of Latin pop and Norteño songs.

The group debuted on YouTube in March 2022 with the cover of “Estos Celos”, a song by Mexican singer Joan Sebastian. This video has more than 1.3 million views.

Grupo Frontera has achieved great success after sharing their version of the famous song “No Se Va” by the Colombian band, Morat. The song charted by the end of 2022 due to going viral on YouTube and TikTok. The song has been popularized to a great extent thanks to a very peculiar dance style that has motivated many people to imitate it. Since then, the group’s popularity has grown exponentially, and they have gained a large number of followers and views on social media. Grupo Frontera has become one of the most popular groups of the moment, not only in Mexico, but also in other Latin American countries, such as Colombia.

In December 2022, a collaboration with Fuerza Regida, titled “Bebé Dame”, reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts and peaked at number 25 on Billboard Hot 100, becoming their first top 40 hit.

By May 2023, the band achieved its first top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Bad Bunny collaboration, “Un x100to”. In response to this, Grupo Frontera announced a 23-date tour to begin in mid-2023. An article by Billboard considered the band’s success integral in the breakthrough of the regional Mexican genre.

The band achieved fame through their norteño cumbias, but upon the release of their full-length debut album in August 2023, they proved they could delve into other regional Mexican styles, as well as outside the genre.

Like other groups, such as Grupo Firme, Calibre 50, Carin Leon, and El Fantasma, Grupo Frontera has managed to connect with their audience and offer a unique musical experience.
