Dinosaur Jr. is an American rock band formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1984. Their album, You’re Living All Over Me, has been called possibly, “the first perfect Indie rock album.” Spin named it one of, “The 300 Best Albums of the Past 30 Years (1985–2014)”. Pitchfork placed the album at number 40 on its Top 100 Albums of the 1980s list.
After three albums on independent labels, the band earned a reputation as one of the formative influences on American alternative rock.

In a BBC review of their reissued albums, You’re Living All Over Me and Bug, Zoe Street called them, “Frighteningly ahead of their time.” The Seattle Times called them, “one of post-punk’s most influential bands.”
Drawing vocals and distinct guitar sounds, hearkening back to 1960s and 1970s classic rock and characterized by extensive use of feedback and distortion, the band was highly influential in the alternative rock movement of the 1990s. The group disbanded in 1997 and the original lineup reformed in 2005. Dinosaur Jr. released five albums thereafter.
Dinosaur Jr.‘s music has influenced many other musicians such as Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Black Francis of Pixies, Radiohead, Henry Rollins, Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, Tom DeLonge of Blink-182, Snow Patrol, Band of Horses and Kurt Vile.
Their discography includes twelve studio albums, two live albums, fifteen extended plays (EP), seven compilations, and several singles.
