GRAMMY award-winning Bone Thugs-n-Harmony was formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1991. The group originally consisted of five members:

Breakthrough with Eazy-E

The group caught their big break in 1993 when they managed to connect with Eazy-E, legendary rapper and founder of Ruthless Records. They impressed him with a live audition over the phone and soon flew to Los Angeles to sign with the label.

Their debut EP under Ruthless, “Creepin on ah Come Up” (1994), featured the hit single “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”—a track that introduced their melodic, rapid-fire rapping style to a national audience.

E. 1999 Eternal and Mainstream Success

In 1995, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony released their full-length debut album, “E. 1999 Eternal“, which became a massive success. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went quadruple platinum.

The album included:

“Tha Crossroads” – a Grammy-winning tribute to Eazy-E, who had passed away in March 1995 from AIDS-related complications.
“Tha Crossroads” became one of their most iconic songs and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Flesh-n-Bone was incarcerated in 2000 for weapons charges, which sidelined him from the group for years. Bizzy Bone also left the group multiple times due to conflicts and personal issues but continued to work with the group sporadically over the years.

Reunions and Continued Legacy

In 2006–2007, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony reunited (minus Bizzy Bone) and released “Strength & Loyalty”, which featured collaborations with Akon, will.i.am, and Marsha Ambrosius. It earned critical praise and commercial success.

In 2010, the group reunited as a five-member unit for “Uni5: The World’s Enemy“.

Despite further lineup changes, the group has continued to perform and release music into the 2020s. They’ve maintained a loyal fanbase and are frequently cited as pioneers of melodic rap.
