Bloc Party are an English rock band whose brand of music, while rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music. The band was formed at the 1999 Reading Festival by Okereke and Lissack.

In 2007, Bloc Party played the Reading and Leeds festivals along with The Used, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Panic! At The Disco, Angels and Airwaves, The Shins, and Paramore.
In 2009, Bloc Party played at the Splendour in the Grass Festival. They headlined this music festival along with other well-known bands such as MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Happy Mondays, and Jane’s Addiction.

In August 2015, Bloc Party also subheadlined FYF Fest in Los Angeles. The show marked the live debut for new bassist Justin Harris of the Portland, Oregon, indie rock outfit Menomena, who had previously opened several Bloc Party U.S. tour dates in April 2009.
Their discography includes six studio albums, three extended plays (EPs), and two remix albums released on the primary label Wichita Recordings.
