Dylan Gossett was born on March 11, 1999, in Austin, Texas, to a teacher mother and a basketball coach father. His musical journey began in middle school, inspired by artists like Ed Sheeran. Initially taking formal lessons, he later taught himself guitar and piano with guidance from his brother and online resources. Gossett pursued higher education at Texas A&M University, graduating in 2021. During his time there, he honed his songwriting skills, often performing at family gatherings. Post-graduation, he interned with Formula 1 in event operations at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, eventually securing a full-time position.
Musical Influences and Style
Gossett’s music blends elements of country, Texas country, folk, and Americana. He cites influences such as Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran, Turnpike Troubadours, Flatland Cavalry, Cody Johnson, Shane Smith and The Saints, and The Lumineers. His storytelling approach and rugged vocal style have drawn comparisons to artists like Zach Bryan. His music has also been compared to that of Eric Church.

Rise to Fame
In 2023, Dylan Gossett began sharing music on TikTok, posting covers and original compositions. His debut single, “To Be Free,” released on June 20, 2023, introduced listeners to his heartfelt songwriting. However, it was his second single, “Coal,” released on July 27, 2023, that marked his breakthrough. The song resonated widely, charting on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning gold certifications from the RIAA and ARIA.
Debut EP and Touring
Following the success of “Coal,” Dylan Gossett left his position at the Circuit of the Americas to focus on music. On October 27, 2023, he independently released his debut EP, “No Better Time,” featuring tracks like “No Better Time,” “Flip a Coin,” and “Lone Ole Cowboy.” The EP’s title reflected his decision to pursue music wholeheartedly. He described “Lone Ole Cowboy” as being inspired by “Big Iron” by Marty Robbins and the music of Canadian singer Colter Wall.
In late 2023, Gossett supported Wyatt Flores on tour and performed the national anthem atop the Circuit of the Americas Observation Tower during a race day event.
Record Deal and Subsequent Releases
In November 2023, Dylan Gossett signed with Big Loud Texas/Mercury Records. He announced the “No Better Time” tour, commencing in February 2024, and later opened for Noah Kahan during the Australian leg of the “Stick Season” tour. On February 2, 2024, he released “Bitter Winds,” followed by “Somewhere Between” on March 1. His second EP, “Songs in the Gravel,” was released on March 22, 2024, featuring these singles along with “If I Had a Lover” and “Finally Stop Dreaming.”
Recent Developments
In 2024, Dylan Gossett contributed “Stronger Than A Storm” to the “Twisters” movie soundtrack and made his debut at the Stagecoach music festival in April. He continued to tour, performing sold-out shows, including multiple dates at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas. As of early 2025, his single “Coal” was approaching 300 million streams on Spotify, underscoring his growing influence in the country music scene.
