Marlow, born on July 7, 1995, in Sugar Land, Texas, and Dye, born on September 18, 1995, in Ada, Oklahoma, quickly bonded over their shared love for country music.

Breakthrough with “Girl in a Country Song” (2014)
In 2014, Maddie & Tae signed with Dot Records, a revived imprint of Big Machine Label Group. Their debut single, “Girl in a Country Song,” was a bold and satirical response to the “bro-country” trend that was dominating country music at the time. The song criticized the portrayal of women in country lyrics, and it quickly resonated with fans.
