Kongos (often styled as KONGOS) is a South African American band, now based in Austin, Texas. The alternative rock group consists of four brothers.
The band’s style is characterized by a fusion of rock, pop, and elements of their South African heritage, including rhythms and instrumentation.
Johnny Kongos: He is the eldest brother and primarily plays accordion, keyboards, and vocals.
Jesse Kongos: The second eldest brother, he handles drums, percussion, and vocals.
Dylan Kongos: The third brother, he plays bass guitar, guitar, and provides vocals.
Daniel Kongos: The youngest brother, he is a multi-instrumentalist, handling guitar, accordion, keyboards, and vocals.
Born in London to a multicultural family (Greek, American, and Mexican), they spent their childhood in South Africa and East London and attended high school in Arizona, USA.
Their musical journey began in 2003, and they have since gained recognition for their unique sound and energetic performances.
Kongos released their self-titled debut album in 2007. It received positive reviews and recognition as a top local album by “Get Out” magazine. They were also named “Best Rock Band of Phoenix” by Phoenix New Times.

Their album, “Lunatic,” was released in 2012 but gained broader recognition following the success of “Come with Me Now.” The album features a diverse range of tracks showcasing their unique sound and musical influences.
Following the success of “Lunatic,” Kongos continued to release music and tour extensively, building a dedicated fanbase around the world.
Kongos gained significant attention with their 2014 single “Come with Me Now,” which became a massive international hit, reaching the top of various charts. The song’s infectious blend of rock and African rhythms garnered widespread acclaim and earned them a large following.
Their subsequent albums include “Egomaniac” (2016) and “1929, Pt. 1” (2019), with the latter being the first part of a planned trilogy.
